1.3 Best Frenemy: Betrayal

Aaliyah was furious; she began to pace back and forth. Okay she thought I could just call back. She dialed his number again and this time he answered.

"Hey babe I just saw you called." he said.

"Raquel didn’t tell you?" she asked.

"No, and how do you know her name?" He asked puzzled.

"She’s my best friend you met her once before." Aaliyah stated.

"What, she never mentioned that." Dominic said confused.

Thats crazy that Raquel tried to seduce me to no avail when she obviously knew who I was he thought to himself. He wondered if he should tell Aaliyah what happened. Raquel had complained about everything the alarm technician did until Dominic was forced to come out and rectify the situation. Then when he arrived she was in a very revealing nightgown. She acted surprise that he had showed up he thought that it was a coincidence but now he wasn’t so sure. He knew he couldn’t tell her over the phone she would just worry, so he decided to wait until she got home.

"Well I’m leaving her house now." he said. "What time do I need to be at the airport to pick you up?" He asked.

"Ten PM." Aaliyah said.

"Okay see you then I love you." he told her.

"I love you too." she said and hung up the phone.

Aaliyah had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach, she knew Raquel and she knew she was up to no good.

Aaliyah sat on the plane to go back home tapping her foot nervously. She wanted to kill Raquel; she did not know why she stayed friends with her for so long. Raquel was always doing something underhanded to her. She could remember when they were in high school they were at a house party and she found Raquel laying in bed with her boyfriend. He was passed out drunk and she claimed she was tired so she went to lie down. There were ten rooms in the house and she picked the one her boyfriend was in to take a nap during a party. Aaliyah had slapped her back then and made her cry. but no matter how many times Aaliyah would beat her up she would always do something else more horrible.

She could remember the time Raquel spent the night at her house and borrowed several of her outfits without asking. Aaliyah did not even find out until she saw her wearing her clothes at school. She had taken like ten outfits. Then when Aaliyah confronted her she said she was just borrowing them and that Aaliyah had so many clothes that she did not think that she would miss them.

Raquel was a real dirty bitch. However, Aaliyah stayed friends with her for eleven years mostly because she always had a sob story that made Aaliyah feel sorry for her. Now Raquel had crossed the line and Aaliyah was not going to let it go with just a beat down this time. She could not wait to get her hands on Raquel; she was going to make her pay, dearly. Her father was a very rich and powerful man with a vengeful wrath and she was daddy’s little girl. Aaliyah took two Tylenol, put in her headphones, and started to listen to her iPod. She slowly began to calm down as she drifted off to sleep.

Dominic walked into his luxury condominium and plopped down on the couch. He began flipping through channels on his fifty-inch flat screen TV. He could not believe someone that Aaliyah called her best friend tried to seduce him. He knew he had to steer clear of her; he was trying to be a better man now, a good one. Dominic did not want anything to ruin his proposal especially not some opportunistic malicious female.

Dominic took the engagement ring out of his pocket; he was still carrying it around. He stared at the engagement ring for a second then put it on the coffee table. He began to think of how he would ask Aaliyah to marry him. He was going rent out her favorite restaurant and have it closed off to the public. Then he would have the restaurant filled with twelve dozen red roses. He was going to get her favorite band to play and her favorite chef to cook her dinner. Dominic wanted everything to be perfect so Aaliyah would be sure to say yes.

Dominic checked the time on his Rolex watch, he had eight hours before he had to pick up Aaliyah. He decided to take a shower and nap for a couple of hours. Then he would go shopping to find something to cook for dinner tonight. He was dreading having to tell Aaliyah about Raquel, he already knew how she was going to react. Maybe I should buy a good bottle wine in addition, he thought as he turned on the shower. Dominic took off his shirt and revealed the tattoo he had of Aaliyah’s name on his chest. He slipped off his jeans and boxers then stepped into the warm water. As the water ran across his body, he took a deep breath and felt this overwhelming rush of happiness. He lived for the day Aaliyah would be his wife.

Dominic stepped out of the shower and grabbed his towel as water trickled down his brawny chest. His body glistened in the light as he glanced in the bathroom mirror. While he dried off he began to think about holding Aaliyah in his arms again. He walked out of the bathroom into his bedroom then over to his walk-in closet. He grabbed some jeans and t-shirt out of his closet. Then he proceeded to get dressed and make a grocery list. After Dominic got dressed he grabbed his keys off of the kitchen counter and headed outside to his car.

Dominic slides into the driver’s seat of his royal blue Aston Martin and buckles his seat belt. Dominic only knew how to cook a few dishes and that was because Aaliyah had shown him how to make all of her favorites. He recalled the fun they use to have cooking together. Dominic was a horrible cook and Aaliyah would become so frustrated trying to teach him. But every time she would get mad he would kiss her long and passionate then say I may never be a great cook but I’ll always take care of you to the best of my ability. Then Aaliyah would laugh and tell him to order out. After a hundred times of burning food he finally learned how to cook and when he upset her that became his go to method of apologizing. He decided to cook her the very first thing she ever taught him to cook, Chicken Marsala.

Raquel was at home relaxing in a bubble bath sipping a glass of white wine. She knew Aaliyah would be home in a couple of hours and she wouldn’t be happy. Raquel was prepared to have to fight Aaliyah but she didn’t care because she was determined to have Dominic, whatever it took. She didn’t care how long they had been friends or if it hurt Aaliyah, she was so sick of being in her shadow and now it was her time to shine.

What went wrong? Raquel thought. I had on my sexiest lingerie and he still didn’t pay me any attention she said aloud to herself. She knew from Aaliyah that Dominic wasn’t usually the faithful type so it should have been easy to seduce him. Maybe he is serious about Aaliyah now, he did buy her an engagement ring she thought. Everyone has a price and once a cheater always a cheater Raquel said to herself.
