1.2 Best Frenemy: By any means necessary
"Raquel! Where have you been?" A girl from out of the crowd said. "I have been looking for you everywhere, this club is huge." she stated.
"I came over to the bar to get another drink." Raquel replied.
"Oh, are you ready to go?" She asked. "I got to get up early in the morning." she added.
"Yeah Pamela I’m ready." Raquel told her.
"Hey isn’t that Aaliyah’s man over there, Dominic?" She asked.
"I’m not sure, it doesn’t really look like him to me." Raquel answered.
"Oh." Pamela said and brushed it off.
Raquel finished the last sip of her drink then sat the empty glass on the bar. She took one last glance at Dominic and smiled then she and Pamela left the club. On the ride home all Raquel could think about was how fine and rich Dominic was. She barely said a word to Pamela just the occasional yeah and okay. She was hooked; Dominic was even better than Aaliyah had said. The fact that he didn’t try to talk to her turned her on even more. He was a good man and everyone knows those are hard to find.
Dominic was getting tired he had been partying with his friends all night long. He was starting to miss Aaliyah. She was all the way in Paris on a magazine shoot and the engagement ring he had purchased was beginning to burn a hole in his pocket. Dominic had been carrying the engagement ring around for about a month trying to build up enough courage to ask Aaliyah to marry him. He wasn’t unquestionably sure she would even say yes when he asked. Dominic knew he looked perfect on paper but in reality he hadn’t been a good boyfriend to Aaliyah. She had stood by him when he wanted to do him and play field, she was so confident in herself that no other women seemed to fade her. He loved that about her that’s why he wanted to marry her, she could stand by him in his lifestyle.
Most women couldn’t handle him they didn’t understand how he lived or how he partied. Aaliyah could be classy one minute, and then turn up the next. She never got envious or bitter she always stayed cool.
Aaliyah had an alluring personality, everyone wanted to know her and be her friend. At times Dominic got jealous but she would always assure him that she loved him and only him. As he gulped down the last of his rum and coke he thought about the late nights that they spent together. He remembered how they stayed up until sunrise talking and laughing. He remembered how she fell asleep on his shoulder and how he used to kiss her on the forehead. They had a connection unlike any other they were best friends. Dominic knew he had a good woman who was one of a kind and he didn’t want to lose her. Dominic pulled out his cell phone and decided to text Aaliyah. Baby I love and miss you he wrote. A few seconds later she wrote back and said I love and miss you too. Dominic looked at his phone then smiled and left the club.
Aaliyah sat her phone on the nightstand by her bed. Then she rolled over and kissed the tall muscular male model that was lying next to her. Aaliyah loved Dominic but just couldn’t continue to be his fool. He didn’t even suspect anything he thought she was his good and faithful girlfriend. But seriously what kind of woman could remain so cool with all the bullshit he was doing. Sure she was confident, cocky even but no one likes to be tried. Aaliyah knew no woman could took take her place or fill her shoes and she knew she would never leave him he was her best friend. She also knew she couldn’t trust him but she could depend on him and in her world that meant a lot. So many people in her life wanted something from her but Dominic never did and the moments they spent alone was like something out of a romance novel. When he looked at her with those big blue eyes and smiled he melted her heart away. As crazy as it sounded she would rather live with him in his world than be without him in hers. To her there was only one way to love so she only loved one way, unconditionally.
It was the next morning and Aaliyah was getting ready to head back to Los Angeles. Her model companion had already been sent on his way. As she folded her clothes and set them in her Louie Vuitton luggage she thought about Dominic. She couldn’t wait to see him, she had been gone for two weeks and she missed him.
Even though she was with someone else the night before she didn’t feel guilty. She never felt guilty. I guess you could say she somewhat held a grudge for his past indiscretions and she wasn’t interested in forgiving him anytime soon.
After she had everything packed up she decided to call Dominic. His phone rang for what seemed like forever then on the fourth ring a woman picked up.
"Hello?" The woman said.
"Hello?" Aaliyah replied confused as she looked down at her cellphone and checked the number. "I’m looking for Dominic." she said.
"Oh yes he’s fixing my alarm system let me get him for you." the woman replied.
The woman sounded so familiar to Aaliyah she began to wonder how do I know this woman? "Raquel!" Aaliyah exclaimed.
"Oh Aaliyah, I didn’t recognize your voice." Raquel said. "I finally decided to get that alarm system installed and guess who showed up to install it, Dominic." she told her.
"Oh really?" Aaliyah asked. "He never installs the system himself." Aaliyah said.
"Well the technician they sent out was having some trouble so you know me I asked for the supervisor." Raquel said with a giggle. "Dominic, the phone!" Raquel yelled.
Aaliyah heard Dominic faintly say something in the background. "He said he’s busy he’ll call you back." Raquel told her then she hung up the phone before she could say anything.
